The profession of veterinary medicine is regulated in Germany. With the successful passing of the state examination in the study of veterinary medicine, one is granted the license to practice veterinary medicine in Germany. This is a state authorization to practice the profession of veterinary medicine independently and on one's own responsibility and to use the professional title "veterinarian". The Approbation is therefore equivalent to an unrestricted professional license and is a mandatory prerequisite if a man/woman wishes to work as a veterinarian in Germany or to set up their own practice.
